DAP is excited to release the 2021-2022 Interfaith Calendar! DAP builds this calendar to help support communities working to normalize and consider all religions, faith-based traditions, and spiritualities. DAP envisions this calendar being utilized to create inclusive spaces wherever they may be.

As a part of the calendar release, DAP will also be hosting a free workshop exploring islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism. This year marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11, a horrific tragedy that increased Islamophobic and anti-Muslim hate crimes by over 1500%. In this workshop, we will look at how stereotypes of Muslims lead to oppressive policies, and what the consequences of those policies look like as we navigate institutions and interpersonal relationships in our daily life. DAP hopes that the education and discussion generated from this workshop will continue to foster religious acceptance and inclusivity.

Leading this workshop is Sahar Pirzada. Pirzada is a Pakistani-American Muslim woman from the Bay Area. She is the Advocacy and West Coast Programs Manager for HEART and Co-Director of Vigilant Love. She has a Master of Social Work from USC. Sahar’s work has been featured in Now This, Los Angeles Times, Teen Vogue, NPR, KPCC, and #GoodMuslimBadMuslim.
