DAP Welcomes New Executive Director, Melanie Powell-Robinson

St. Louis, Missouri – March 13, 2018 – Diversity Awareness Partnership (DAP) the region’s catalyst to increase awareness, engagement and education about diversity and inclusion, welcomes Melanie Powell-Robinson as their new Executive Director, according to Emily Pitts, DAP Board Chairperson. “We’re so happy Melanie has joined DAP’s team as Executive Director,” says Pitts. “Her experience as a community leader in not-for-profit organization management, marketing and public relations makes her a great added value for DAP’s service to the St. Louis region.” As Executive Director, Powell-Robinson oversees the day-to-day operations of DAP, including strategic fund development and communications plans. Additionally, she provides leadership to staff and collaborates with the organization’s Board of Directors.
“Organizations that encourage and promote diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives are relevant now more than ever,” says Powell-Robinson. “I am excited about the opportunity to continue DAP’s mission and advocate for understanding, inclusivity and systemic change in our region.”
A recognized regional leader in diversity and inclusion efforts, DAP collaborates with Fortune 500 corporate partners, non-profit organizations, and academic, government, and faith-based institutions to promote inclusive communities where diversity is respected and embraced, and equity is the norm. DAP’s key programs include: Diversity Training, the Annual Diversity Summit, Community Forums and Collaborations, Diversity Publications, the Give Respect – Get Respect Youth Program, the EXPLORE Career Immersion programs, Corporate Diversity Roundtables, and the DAP Connect Program.
A graduate of Webster University, Powell-Robinson holds a Master’s Degree in Management in Leadership and most recently served as Executive Director of Communications, Marketing and Engagement for Riverview Gardens School District.
