Diversity Awareness Partnership (DAP) is honored by the continued leadership of Melissa Brickey as she makes the exciting shift from Board Member to Executive Director. “She knows our mission and organization well,” says Taylor Mason, DAP Board President, “and will lead us to expand our impact and influence in the St. Louis area… We are happy that Melissa will serve DAP as our new Executive Director. She is ready to move our organization forward now and increase the momentum in our work.”
As the region’s catalyst to increase awareness, engagement, and education about diversity and inclusion, DAP values Brickey’s extensive career and experience in the non-profit sector. Brickey comes to DAP having served as a Program Director, Operations Director, and Executive Director for De La Salle, Inc, and most recently as the Vice President of Advancement for Rosati-Kain High School. Brickey will begin filling her new role at DAP on July 8th.
“If we collectively work to move the needle on inclusion and equity, our region can and will reach its full potential,” Brickey says. “DAP continues to be a leader in that very important and transformative work. I am excited to serve the DAP mission and to work alongside others in advocating for profound, systemic change.”
With an educational background in history, secondary teaching, and non-profit management, Brickey is poised to further the success of DAP’s key programs, which include: diversity training and education; the Annual Diversity Summit; community forums; publications; the Give Respect, Get Respect youth anti-bias program, the EXPLORE career immersion program, the Diverse-City Art Competition, and the DAP Connect networking program. These initiatives are designed to promote communities in which diversity is embraced.
Brickey’s institutional advancement expertise will be crucial as she expands DAP’s efforts in conjunction with Fortune 500 corporate partners; other non-profit organizations; and academic, governmental, and faith-based institutions. DAP staff look forward to a promising new era for the organization.
