Youth Program Manager Diversity Awareness Partnership


Under the direction of the Director of Programs, the Youth Program Manager will be responsible for the recruitment of students for all EXPLORE programs; management of the Diverse-City Art Competition; and support for the Director of Programs in creating content and curricula for the Give Respect, Get Respect (GRGR) program.


EXPLORE Program Responsibilities:

  • Build applicant sources by cultivating positive relationships with school administrators, educators, students, and key community stakeholders through individual communication and attending key education and diversity-focused events
  • Maintain and update a database of school administrators, teachers, support staff, and community organizations that cover all schools and relevant community organizations in the region
  • Maintain and update a database of program alumni for continual connection to DAP’s EXPLORE youth diversity program and community events
  • Manage communications with parents, school administrators, and student participants
  • Plan, organize, and communicate travel arrangements as needed for participants within budget constraints
  • Design and implement recruitment plan and selection of number of students to fulfill the requirements of each program partner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Diverse-City Art Competition Responsibilities:

  • Establish a timeline for the annual competition
  • Develop and implement a communications plan for the competition
  • Solicit artwork from students throughout the Metro St. Louis area
  • Solicit gift donations to recognize contest winners
  • Manage judging process
  • Coordinate recognition ceremony at DAP Connect Breakfast
  • Design and implement annual evaluations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Give Respect, Get Respect Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Director of Programs to maintain, update, and expand on the curricula
  • Support outreach efforts as needed (e.g. potential program partners and interested schools)

General Organization Responsibilities:

  • Attend all of DAP’s major fundraising and community outreach events
  • Provide own transportation to all programs
  • Attend weekly DAP Team meetings and weekly check-ins with direct supervisor
  • Perform other job-related activities as assigned to support DAP brand and growth

Qualifications / Requirements

  • High school diploma or higher
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of partner organizations, volunteers, and the public
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to detail and organization
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills; ability to independently manage a wide variety of projects, set priorities, balance short-term and long-term objectives, meet deadlines, and work with staff from various program areas to accomplish goals
  • Ability to take initiative and work individually or as a member of a team
  • Flexible working style to adapt to changing needs
  • Comprehensive understanding of diversity issues related to race, culture, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability

 Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience within a school setting or deep understanding of the needs of educators, school administrators, and students
  • 3+ years in a role with responsibilities in program outreach and a successful track record of meeting recruiting targets
