STAGES St. Louis & STAGES Performing Arts Academy is seeking experienced candidates to apply for The Director of Education & Outreach position.  The Director of Education & Outreach will be responsible for the management, implementation, and continued development of a comprehensive arts education program that involves students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds in learning through the performing arts. The position will be expected to maintain and grow relationships with outreach partners, schools, and existing community partners while seeking out opportunities to reach new students. The new Kirkwood Performing Arts Center, the home of STAGES St. Louis professional-artistic programs, will also guide the future and development of the Performing Arts Academy.

Responsibilities

  • Support all efforts and initiatives of the STAGES St. Louis organization to provide an exceptional experience to all patrons, students, and employees.
  • Support the management team in leadership, training, and promotion of teamwork.
  • Maintain a strong, visible, and positive presence at all times.
  • Plan, create and assist in the delivery of all of the Academy and Outreach curriculum and programming.
  • Develop and manage all new initiatives for the Education Department.
  • Develop collaborative educational partnerships with other community organizations.
  • Present Academy progress and updates at board meetings.
  • Maintain an awareness of the Academy budget as it relates to core job responsibilities.
  • Develop and manage all new initiatives for the Education Department.
  • Staff and oversee all artistic and technical aspects of the Academy productions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to set goals, assign priorities, anticipate problems, and achieve results.
  • Oversee Outreach Partnership Agreement negotiations.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with all company associates in both written and verbal form.
  • Communicate with Education and Outreach Coordinators regarding any departmental issues
  • Collaborate with Marketing Dept. in the planning and implementation of marketing for Academy and all Education initiatives.
  •  Assist Development with special Events when appropriate.
  • Plan End of the Year Showcases with Education Team.
  • Be the “face” of the Academy -- visit with and advise students and parents, observe classes and other programs, etc to promote & maintain the work of STAGES St. Louis and the Academy.
  • Attend all STAGES St. Louis, the Academy, and Outreach events/showcases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements

Qualified candidates should hold a secondary degree in education, music, theatre, dance, or a discipline in the performing arts or a combination of education and experience in the performing arts/arts management. While not required, a minimum of 2+ years in arts management is preferred. All candidates must be able to pass a security background check upon hiring. All candidates must be able to work evenings and weekends.
