Distribution Center Department: Transportation
Reports To: Canada General Manager

Your Role: Direct and coordinate transportation activities throughout Canada; Develop and maintain processes to accomplish transportation department goals in the areas of employee safety, food safety, motor vehicle safety, customer service, and cost containment.

Responsibilities

• Addressing any vendor and customer challenges
• The recruitment, hiring, training, and management of transportation department personnel
• Managing regulatory compliance
• Containing costs through effective routing of customer orders and management of inbound shipments
• Preparing and performing annual budgets for capital, operating and payroll
• Leading continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste
• Other duties as assigned

Role Specifics:
• Supervise: Transportation department employees including dispatch and drivers
• Travel: Approximately 2-3 nights per month as business needs dictate. Any candidate must have the ability to
travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train
for training or meetings.

 

Qualifications / Requirements

We Need You To Have:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent Dot Foods experience
• Strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer skills, experience in using Microsoft Office
programs and applications
• Experience and/or education with transportation
management

We’d Like You To Have:
• Familiarity with truck and trailer maintenance,
human resources, warehousing, and distribution
• Ability to motivate and work well with others
